When first starting out, we all, for the most part, understood that if you had a website it would generate business. But, surprise, surprise – that website didn’t crank out the business you thought it would. What most businesses don’t consider is that it takes more than having your address in your signature block or on your business card to attract potential clients. Does this sound like you? Well, it’s time for a change. Following are 5 ways to improve your website’s lead generation, most are common sense strategies that are fairly easy to implement.

 

1. Understanding the Lead Generation Process

The most important thing that you need to know is that you can’t just “set it and forget it” when it comes to website lead generation. You need to “always be learning” and observing as you go, adjusting your message, keywords and call to actions as you learn more about what works and what doesn’t. 2. Focus the Design on Lead Generation

Designing your website for lead generation includes strategies like making sure that it is mobile friendly and has a fast load time (if it takes over a couple of seconds to load your visitors will probably leave). Also, eliminate distracting content, focusing on one call to action per page.

Don’t forget to optimize your “Thank You” pages either – you’d be surprised by how many businesses forget this important step. It’s not only the landing pages that need attention when it comes to lead generation. The “Thank You” page is where your visitors end up after they submit the form on the landing page and should definitely not be overlooked. Consider adding social media button on your Thank You” page, and/or including a link to another relevant offer.

 

4. Improve SEO

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is an important part of website lead generation for an obvious reason – it helps consumers find you. Every page of your website is a potential search engine magnet if you add the right SEO rich title, keywords, and description.

 

5. Provide Social Proof

When it comes to a highly effective way to generate leads, providing social proof is key. Social proof (testimonials, Social media biz page links) shows people that are visiting your site that other individuals like them think highly of you. Social proof is like having a great group of friends that tell them they’ve found the perfect company to work with or product to consider buying.

With a lead focused, appealing website design, engaging content, and a focused comprehension of both your target audience and their conversion path, you can easily turn your website into a lead generating machine.
