Write Great Content Even If You’re Not a Native English Speaker

Write great content even if you’re not a native English speaker

We all want to be able to write great content it’s what the internet is built on. The internet has helped provide us all the unique opportunity to connect and share common interests together globally. This incredible connection has also helped launch the careers of freelance writers worldwide. This online connection has given writer’s the ability to hone their writing skills and learn how to interact with a variety of readers. Even though a lot of the articles/posts online are well written, regardless of author’s nationality, a lot of non-native content presents poor English skills. The purpose of this article is to help you learn how to write great content when you are not a native English speaker.

1. Create an English Terminology Dictionary

Gather together a collection of writing style notes, including irregularly used verbs, niche jargon and idiomatic expressions. You’ll find that penning these notes during your English language reading/research sessions, s far more effective than using an online or a hard copy dictionary.

2. Take Part in Forums

This is definitely an important tip when it comes to improving your English writing skills. You can’t perfect these skills unless you learn how to think in English. Forums as well as chat rooms are great places to accomplish this because they force you into an interactive, typically welcoming environment. Taking part in these platforms will help you perfect your writing, English thinking and even improve your pronunciation skills.

3. Get Content Ideas Online

Thanks to the wealth of information available online today, it’s easy to get content ideas from sources that include blogs, forums, niche focused websites, etc. Another thing you could do for content ideas is to subscribe to niche related newsletters to get updates delivered directly to your email. Yes, it will increase the amount of email you’ll receive but at least the content will be useful.

4. Start Your Own Blog

Start your own blog. Having your own personal blog provides you with a place to perfect your writing skills regarding your preferred niche. With your blog you can share personal experiences and opinions, using your newly learned English language jargon, worry free.

5. Ask an English Speaker for Help

Learning how to use English specific slang, idiomatic expressions and verbs can be a difficult task for a non-native speaker. If this applies to you, the most beneficial critique you can get is that offered by a native English speaker who will be able to help correct your tone, style, spelling and grammar.

6. Automated Tools

When it comes to writing for English speaking readers, using standard, built in spellcheckers isn’t adequate enough to produce quality. Fortunately, there are a number of extremely useful automated tools available today that can detect not just spelling, but grammar, punctuation errors, the overuse of words and more. A couple of good grammar checkers include Ginger and Grammarly.

7. Always Welcome Constructive Feedback

Write Great Content  is about taking on board positive advice and constructive feedback. If you do this it could be the turning point you need when it comes to developing a successful writing career. Even though even constructive feedback can be upsetting, instead of letting it bother you accept it humbly and learn from it.

If you have a flair for writing that you hope to turn into a career, or just want to improve your skills when it comes to connecting with English speaking readers, the tips listed here will definitely help.
